Reptiles star in Bargo's Wirrimbirra Sanctuary show
IT IS not every day that you get the chance to touch a crocodile, hold a python and get up close and personal with Australia’s most unique reptiles.
But on Sunday you can do all this at Wirrimbirra Sanctuary for just a gold-coin donation.
Reptile Day is Wirrimbirra Sanctuary’s biggest day of the year, where visitors to the park will be treated to hourly shows by the Crocodile Encounters team.
Visitors can also learn the requirements of keeping reptiles as pets from the Macarthur Herpetological Society, buy reptile supplies and even meet Wirrimbirra’s beloved bearded dragons Wal and Dilly.
Sanctuary volunteer Rae Dutton encouraged parents to bring their children for a low-cost, highly educational and very rare interaction with Australian wildlife.
“Wirrimbirra is the only place of its kind in the region where you can see native animals up close without costing a fortune,” she said.
Wirrimbirra Sanctuary’s Reptile Day will be held on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
