Northeast Reptile Expo returns to Bangor Sunday

BANGOR, Maine — Hundreds of captive-bred snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles and tortoises are making their way to the Queen City on Sunday for the Northeast Reptile Expo, event organizer Christopher MacMillan said.
“The show will have several of Maine’s top reptile breeders, and a few from other states as well,” he said.
Those interested in having a unique pet or who just want to see dart frogs, bearded dragon lizards, chameleons or snakes up close can make their way to the Bangor Motor Inn & Conference Center on Hogan Road between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.
The entry fee is $4, and anyone under age 12 gets in free.
The expo will feature about 20 exhibits, with creatures for sale as well as supplies, cages and food.
MacMillan, a Searsport native who now lives in Powell, Ohio, makes his living selling reptiles, turtles and amphibians at shows all over the country and wanted to bring his passion home to Maine. An event he held last fall was so successful that Sunday’s event was planned.
