What are the main differences between early reptiles / amphibians and dinosaurs?

Could it be argued that reptiles and birds are simply the products of dinosaurs that did not die out? What physical characteristics separate dinosaurs from reptiles? (other than extinction).

Couldn't crocodiles & alligators be considered

Hands-on learning excitement at Alfred Almond

Kindergarten was slightly more challenging than a school year of day care decades ago.

The differences between lazy nap-filled afternoons and Susan Burlingame’s Alfred-Almond kindergarten classes are like the differences between band aids and thoracic surgery. Or, more accurately, between learning to scrawl your name and reading or writing complete sentences and counting to 100s by ones, five and tens every school-day morning as students do in her kindergarten class.

Differences between those decades-apart kindergartens are many and dramatic: Burlingame’s students learn to differentiate between analog and digital, among reptiles and mammals and fish and insects and even amphibians that lead double lives. The students learn that amphibians hatch from water-borne eggs and mature to live on land near their watery incubators.

Bats give birth to live young, nurse their offspring on mom’s milk and are furry, she explains. What are they? she asks. “Mammals,” her enthusiastic charges yell in unison.
